Dr Anoop Rastogi has advanced liposuction training from leaders in the field. Here, you can view some of Dr Rastogi’s Before and After photos of Liposuction (suction-assisted lipectomy).

What is liposuction?

Liposuction, also called suction-assisted lipectomy, is a technique in cosmetic surgery that targets the body’s fat tissue. It removes fat from targeted areas to help patients achieve their cosmetic goals.

For example, Dr Rastogi can remove fat tissue from a patient’s arms, legs, abdomen, back, and chest. The precise area depends on the patient’s areas of concern, and the amount of fat tissue they desire to have removed. In some cases, the fat cells can be processed and injected back into the body in a preferred area, such as the buttocks or breasts.

Although the procedure involves smaller incisions than other types of surgery, it is nevertheless a surgical procedure with an aftercare and recovery process. Depending on their treatment plan, patients may achieve different results, which can be discussed with Dr Rastogi in an initial consultation.

Who is it for?

Many different aesthetic goals may prompt a person to seek liposuction. For many people, it can be difficult to reduce fat in a targeted area naturally. Even with a healthy diet and exercise routine, fat deposits may still remain in areas where they are unwanted. Liposuction may be useful in these cases, as it allows men and women to pursue a more targeted method of fat reduction.

A good candidate must meet a few requirements. First, the patient must be healthy and at a stable weight. Although liposuction removes fat from the body, it is not a weight loss method or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Patients should also have reasonable expectations and a good knowledge of the risks and recovery involved.

Surgery consultation

If you are unsure whether liposuction is right for you or whether you qualify, you may want to discuss your options with Dr Rastogi in an initial consultation. The consultation is a good place to ask questions about the procedure you desire and get to know your surgeon. You can ask questions about which areas you can treat, how much fat can be removed, and what you can expect from the process.

Dr Rastogi will also need to ask you questions to determine if you are suitable for liposuction. He may enquire about your goals and why you are choosing to seek a liposuction procedure, as well as ask questions about your health and medications. It is important to communicate your goals and needs clearly to help facilitate a suitable treatment plan.

Common surgery risks and complications

Before you commit to your surgical plan, you will need to become aware of the risks and possible complications of liposuction. Although surgery with a qualified professional can help reduce the likelihood of adverse outcomes, every cosmetic surgery involves a level of risk. Ensure that you know the risks before making a decision about your procedure, as this allows you to be fully aware of the potential outcomes.

The risks of liposuction surgery can include:

  • Reactions to anaesthesia
  • Seroma, or build-up of fluid
  • Skin infections
  • Damage to underlying tissues
  • Contour irregularities
  • Other cosmetic issues

There is a post-procedure aftercare process to help patients heal and recover. During this phase, you should pay attention to Dr Rastogi’s instructions, as following them can help avoid increasing risks. Patients should also be aware that weight fluctuations can change the results of their procedure.
