Fat Transfer to Breast Sydney(Autologous Fat Grafting)

What is Fat Transfer to Breast (Autologous Fat Grafting)?

Dr Rastogi has been performing breast fat transfer procedure for over 20 years and has extensive experience in the field.

Fat transfer to breast is performed on women who would like to increase their breast size and alter the shape of their breasts using their own body fat instead of using an implant.

Where the fat comes from differs from patient to patient, it is generally grafted from:

  • Inner or Outer thighs
  • Hips / Waist
  • Stomach
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Increase the size of your breasts by up to 1.5 cups without inserting foreign materials into the body.
  • Fat transfer to breast procedure enlarges your breasts while removing fat from another area of your body during the liposuction.
  • Since the fat is transferred to the breasts using small injections, the scars are generally minor compared to other surgical procedures

Costs

As with most other cosmetic procedures, breast fat transfer has a multi-faceted cost structure. The cost components to your fat transfer breast augmentation include doctor’s fees, anesthetist’s fees, and hospital fees.

There will also be external fees to consider such as the cost for the garment, any scar care products. and the lymphatic drainage massage.

Firstly, Dr Rastogi will charge a fee to perform your Fat Transfer to breast procedure. Doctor’s fees tend to differ from doctor to doctor, depending on their qualifications, experience, and professional recognition. Dr Rastogi has been performing this procedure for over 25 years, therefore his fees will reflect this.

Keep in mind that the cost of your fat transfer can also change depending on the amount of liposuction desired. If a patient is seeking to remove larger amounts or more areas of fat removal (other than as is required for a fat transfer to breast procedure), then extra surgery time will ensue, which will increase your surgical costs.

Frequently asked questions

What is breast fat transfer surgery?

Breast fat transfer surgery uses fat taken from one area of your body and placed into the breasts to increase volume. The fat is usually collected from areas such as the abdomen, hips, or thighs.

How much size increase can I expect with the fat transfer to the breast?

Size change varies and depends on your current breast size, how much fat can be transferred, and how much of the transferred fat your body retains over time. A modest increase is more common than a large increase, and some patients may need more than one session.

Do I need to gain weight before the surgery?

Not usually. The key factor is whether you have enough available fat for transfer, and this is assessed during consultation.

Are the breast augmentation fat transfer surgery results permanent?

It will take around 6 weeks for the newly grafted fat cells to become a permanent part of the breast. Some of these fat cells will be reabsorbed by the breasts, but the surviving fat cells will be permanent.

What is the expected fat survival rate?

Around 20% of the newly grafted fat cells will be reabsorbed by the body. Each patient’s results will differ, and so part of your post-operative journey will be to measure your breasts to check your retention rate. We also have a strict, but easily attainable recovery guide, to ensure your newly grafted fat cells have the best chance of survival.

Is breast fat grafting surgery safe?

All surgery has risks, and fat transfer has risks specific to the procedure. Safety depends on your health, surgical planning, and surgical technique, which should be discussed during consultation.

Would I be able to breastfeed afterwards?

Every body is different, and some women may experience difficulty breast feeding without having any breast procedures. In many cases, our patients can still breast feed after this procedure, however, this cannot be guaranteed.

What's the recovery like?

Recovery varies, but you may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in both the donor area and the breasts. You will be given aftercare instructions and guidance on when you can return to normal activities. Email reception@rastogi.com.au to receive our recovery guide.

How to choose the right doctor for surgery in Sydney?

Choose a doctor with recognised surgical training, relevant experience, and a clear approach to explaining risks, recovery, and suitability, like Dr Rastogi. It also helps if you feel comfortable asking questions and receive clear answers during a consultation.

Can I combine breast fat transfer with implants?

In some cases, fat transfer may be combined with implants, depending on your goals and suitability. This should be assessed and discussed during consultation.

What are the downsides of fat grafting surgery?

Many surgeries can have pro’s and con’s. Part of Dr Rastogi’s responsibility is to discuss these with you at your consultation. One downside of fat grafting to the breast is that, unlike breast implants, we can never depict the exact size you will be after surgery once you have finished your recovery.

How should I sleep after the surgery?

You are usually advised to sleep on your back and avoid pressure on the breasts during early recovery. The safest time to change sleeping positions is discussed at follow-up appointments, based on how healing is progressing.

What are the costs of autologous fat transfer surgery?

The costs for this procedure are based on how many areas of liposuction will be performed and how long this will take in surgery. You may receive an approximate quote if you would like your photos to be assessed by Dr Rastogi prior to booking a consultation. To learn more about this service, please reach out to our team.

Will Medicare pay for my surgery?

In most cases, breast fat transfer performed for volume change is not Medicare funded, but eligibility can vary depending on the reason for surgery. You should confirm this with the clinic and check directly with Medicare.

Does breast fat transfer surgery leave scars?

Breast fat transfer involves small entry points where fat is collected and where it is placed, and these can leave scars. The location and size of scars vary between patients and depend on the approach used and how your skin heals.
