'>As we age, our lips lose volume and this is further exacerbated by gum recession so that there is not the support of the teeth and gums pushing the lips forward. The lips can be enhanced in a very subtle, natural manner to provide softness and youthfulness to the aging face with dermal fillers. Beyond the late 30s, smokers lines also start to appear a round the border of the lips and lipsticks can bleed up into the smokers lines. By outlining the borders with a filler, these sm okers lines are softened and this prevents the lipstick bleeding.
"There is a perception by women beyond their 30s that lips are for young people to have done," said Dr Rastogi. "In reality the people who gain the greatest benefits are the older age group."
Definition between the skin and the border of the lip can be created so the lip margin is highlighted slightly adding to the size, elegance and charm. "And this border is not done straight across the lip but in harmony with the natural fleshy contours of the lip," explained Dr Rastogi. The volume of the lip can be increased as well. "What we try to do is not to fill the fleshy part of the lip but rather put the filler behind the lip and turn it outwards" explained Dr Rastogi. "So its the natural lip that is expanding and appears larger in size."
Dr Rastogi prefers to use a dermal filler to fill the lips: "Dermal fillers are natural component of skin and is a substance that holds moisture," said Dr Rastogi. It is a clear jelly which cant be seen and doesn't react adversely to the body. It is non-animal and nonpermanent but lasts for up to 6 months.
